Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees oversees the activities of our Company and is composed of senior executives and industry leaders. It includes distinguished members from diverse backgrounds, such as government, law, banking, finance, the intelligence community and manufacturing including technology, communications and ceramics. The role of the Board is to ensure that SRC adheres to its charter, remains financially sound and adequately plans for the future.

Chester D. Amond, Chairman of the Board, Retired, Syracuse China

Chester D AmondChester Amond’s 50-year career has spanned a wide variety of industries and philanthropic organizations. He began his career as an industrial engineer and held various executive assignments with Reliance Electric, ITT, Veeder-Root Co. and Toledo Scale. In 1972, Mr. Amond joined Syracuse China, where he spent 19 years of his career. During that time, he served as president of Syracuse China’s Will and Baumer Division; president, chairman and CEO of Syracuse China; and president, chairman and CEO of Canadian Pacific (U.S.) Inc.

Mr. Amond is currently a Trustee and Chairman of SRC’s Board, and a Trustee and past Chairman of Community General Hospital. Mr. Amond holds degrees from Kent State University and Western Reserve University. 

 

Patricia Civil, Retired, Managing Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP

Patricia CivilPatricia Civil has more than 30 years of experience with corporate and government auditing, investment and finance. She spent her entire career at Coopers & Lybrand, where she started as a staff accountant, and eventually became managing partner. She continued in this role during and after the Coopers & Lybrand merger with Price Waterhouse, and retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in 2002.

Currently, Ms. Civil serves as a member of the boards of NBT Bancorp Inc., and Anaren, Inc. She chairs the Audit Committee of both corporations, serves on NBT’s Executive Compensation Committee and on Anaren’s Corporate Governance Committee. Ms. Civil serves on the Board of Trustees for SRC, the corporate board of Unity Mutual Life Insurance Company and is a member of Unity Mutual’s Audit and Investment committees, SRC’s audit and finance committees and both the American Institute and New York State Society of Public Accountants. 

 

LTG Donald Kerrick, USA (Ret.), U.S. Army

LTG Donald KerrickLieutenant General Don Kerrick served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, and retired as a three-star General. General Kerrick served, by Presidential Appointment, as a principal negotiator on the U.S. Balkans Peace Delegation that negotiated an agreement ending the Bosnian War. He was appointed by the President of the U.S. to serve on the Steering Committee for the Protection of the U.S. Critical Infrastructure, and developed the blueprint for the structure and procedures designed to protect national critical infrastructure. At retirement, he was serving in the White House as the deputy national security advisor to the President of the U.S. He managed the nation’s deputies committee and was responsible for developing, implementing and managing U.S., foreign and national security policies.

After leaving the military, General Kerrick served as the vice president, General Dynamics Advanced Information systems for five years, and was responsible for strategic planning, business development, mergers and acquisitions, international business, and customer and corporate relations. Other significant military assignments include: assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; chief of staff/staff director, the National Security Council, the White House; and director of operations, Defense Intelligence Agency. Additionally, he is a rated pilot in both rotary and fixed wing aircraft and is a multi-engine instructor pilot.

 

Allen J. Naples, Vice Chairperson of the Board, President, M&T Bank, Central New York Division

Allen J. NaplesAllen Naples has more than 36 years of experience in retail, corporate and international banking. He is currently employed at M&T Bank as the regional president and senior vice president of the Central New York region encompassing the Syracuse, Watertown and Mohawk Valley markets. In addition he serves as a member of M&T Bank's senior loan committee.

Throughout his career, Mr. Naples has placed a strong emphasis on community services. He currently serves at the executive or chairman level for a number of organizations, including the Metropolitan Development Corporation, SRC, New York Business Development Corporation, Onondaga Community College Foundation, the Century Club of Syracuse, Onondaga Golf and Country Club and the Bellevue Golf and Country Club of Syracuse.

 

M. Catherine Richardson , Vice Chairperson of the Board, Retired, Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC

M. Catherine RichardsonMs. M. Catherine Richardson has been a lawyer for more than 30 years with her practice concentrated in the corporate and healthcare fields. She has her juris doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, graduating magna cum laude.

Ms. Richardson has been president of the Onondaga County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association and also served on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association. She has served on and continues to serve on numerous national and local corporate and charitable Boards.

 

Robert U. Roberts, President and Chief Executive Officer, SRC

Robert U. RobertsMr. Roberts joined SRC in 1991 as president and CEO. He directs all aspects of the SRC organization. Mr. Roberts’ knowledge and leadership in U.S. government and private sector programs has greatly advanced SRC’s capabilities to support numerous customers, including the Department of Defense, the National Air Intelligence Center, the Naval Air Warfare Center and the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as state and local initiatives associated with economic development, technology innovation, environmental quality and academic-to-industry coupling.

Mr. Roberts has more than 38 years of experience in program planning, development and management. He is an expert in business strategies and development for both the government and private sectors. Through his leadership, SRC has consistently grown.

 

Lawrence A. Sala, President & Chief Executive Officer, Anaren, Inc.

Lawrence A. SalaLawrence Sala joined Anaren in 1984. He utilized his engineering expertise to assist the company in the design, manufacture and sale of complex microwave signal distribution networks and components for the wireless communications, satellite communications and defense electronics markets. Throughout his career at Anaren, Mr. Sala grew within the company, and in May of 1995, was appointed president. He was appointed as CEO in September 1997, and was appointed as chairman of the Board of Directors in November 2001.

Mr. Sala is a graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, a master’s degree in electrical engineering, and a master’s degree in marketing (innovation management). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Carlisle Corporation, SRC and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse.

 

Frank A. Saus, Saus Engineering, Retired National Security Agency

Frank A. SausFrank Saus has more than 40 years of engineering experience, 34 of which were served at the National Security Agency. Throughout his career at the NSA, Mr. Saus specialized in systems engineering, program management and contract procurement with a heavy emphasis in leading start-up organizations with strategically important missions. Mr. Saus served as senior NSA representative for the National Reconnaissance Office, leading the design, delivery and support of signals intelligence ground processing systems; and also served as program manager for some of the NSA’s largest and technically complex system developments. Mr. Saus earned multiple awards for his work at the NSA.

After his retirement, Mr. Saus served as vice president of engineering for SAFEOperations, Inc., an information assurance software firm, and as a principal of the National Means Group, a firm that provides authoritative national security consulting services. He is president of Saus Engineering, providing management and engineering consulting services in the national security arena.

 

Tom Triscari, Jr., Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Tom Triscari, Jr.As a career officer in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Tom Triscari, Jr. held key technical, research and development positions, and was responsible for advancing and applying emerging technology to national programs in reconnaissance, surveillance and intelligence, as well as, command and control systems. He retired from active duty in 1995 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After his retirement, Dr. Triscari founded Information Technology Management, Inc., a partnership of professionals providing specialized research, education, leadership training and consulting services, to a variety of customers, including the U.S. Congress, Department of Defense, National Security Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Dr. Triscari currently serves on the Boards of the New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation, SRC and the Watervliet Innovation Center, and is also a member of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Science, Academy of Management, Project Management Institute, Decision Sciences Institute and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
